Police responded to two firearms disturbances and an officer was injured during the twice-yearly, unsanctioned “Pub Crawl” in Oshkosh, according to the Oshkosh Police Department.
The department responded to the following complaints on Oct. 11, according to a news release:
Around 11:10 p.m., officers received reports of several males brandishing firearms and pointing them at people near Scott Avenue and Cherry Street.
When an officer located a suspect and attempted to make contact with him, the suspect began resisting and tried to grab something from the front of his pants.
When officers took him into custody, a loaded handgun was located underneath his body. He was arrested and identified as a 17-year-old from Neenah.
A large disturbance with around 100 people took place in the same area. During the disturbance, an officer was knocked to the ground, sustained a non-life-threatening head injury and was taken to a hospital.
Then, around the 800 block of Scott Avenue, a state trooper saw a suspect involved in a battery complaint. The 20-year old male from Ripon fled on foot with a handgun in his hand.
After a short foot pursuit, the suspect was taken into custody for a probation hold, pending further investigation.
Police believe he dropped a black and grey backpack during the pursuit and ask residents on the 700 and 800 blocks of Woodland, Scott and Prospect to check their yards and contact Oshkosh police immediately if they find it.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Oshkosh Police Department at (920) 236-5700. To remain anonymous, contact Winnebago County Crime Stoppers at (920) 231-8477 or through the P3 App.

Law enforcement agencies say the unsanctioned event leads to an increase in house parties near the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.
The UW Oshkosh Police Department worked with the Oshkosh Police Department and Wisconsin State Patrol “throughout the day and night to increase the presence of law enforcement in the residential areas near the campus.”
In a news release, the campus police department thanked the other agencies “for their strong collaboration, decisive and swift action, and thorough preparation, which ultimately kept our community safe during this challenging event.”
At the same event in April 2024, police arrested five people, issued 48 citations and responded to a report of shots fired.
